Homes within Reach/West Hennepin Affordable Housing Land Trust
A non-profit community-based program whose vision is to transform people's lives through homeownership.
Homes Within Reach (HWR) purchases homes in the community, rehabilitates them, and then sells them to qualified homebuyers. The Community Land Trust practice creates and preserves affordable homeownership for working families. By removing the market value of the land from the mortgage equation, the cost of the home is reduced. Since the land is owned by HWR, the homebuyer only purchases the home and leases the land for a monthly fee.
To learn more about the Community Land Trust model and the HWR organization, visit the Homes Within Reach website or call 952-401-7071.
Hennepin County Housing Rehabilitation Program
Households in owner-occupied properties may be able to receive housing rehabilitation assistance in the City of Maple Grove if there are funds are available and the household and property meet eligibility requirements.
The funds are available in the form of a deferred loan - no monthly payments - secured by a lien (in the form of a mortgage) against the property for a period of 15 years. If the property is sold, the title is conveyed or transferred, or if the property ceases to be the permanent residence of the borrower, the amount borrowed must be repaid. In certain cases, interest must also be paid. For more information, visit the Hennepin County website or call 612-569-1300.
