Election judges

Election judges are responsible for administering election procedures in each polling place on Election Day. Serving as an election judge is a great opportunity to be involved in the election process and serve the community.

Election judge requirements

  • You must be eligible to vote in Minnesota.
  • You must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • You cannot be a spouse, parent, child, or sibling of any election judge serving in the same precinct at the same time or of any candidate at that election.

Time off work to serve as an election judge

State law allows for time off work without loss of wages to serve as an election judge with 20 days prior written notice to the employer. See Minnesota Statute 204B.195

Required training

The City of Maple Grove provides training for all election judges. This training is mandatory and lasts approximately 2 to 3 hours. You will be paid for the training session.
